ADS teacher receives regional nomination for ASAH Educator of the Year.

Arriving at Archbishop Damiano School 11 years ago, Room 9 teacher Jenna Uppal has left a significant impression on her staff and those she serves. So much so, that it was announced this year that Jenna has been nominated as a Region IV finalist for ASAH’s Educator of the Year.

As a regional finalist, Jenna will now advance to the state level, where she will be up along with all of her peers from each region for ASAH’s Educator of the Year Award.

For more than 40 years, ASAH has supported special education schools and agencies in New Jersey, as well as helping locate resources for those with special needs.

Jenna, who started with ADS as a long-term substitute, soon after found her place at the school working as a teacher in the day program classes. Looking back, she always wanted to serve the population she works with now.

She owes a great deal of her success in the classroom to coworkers, both the paraprofessionals and teachers who are constantly collaborating on new ideas and initiatives.

Outside of the classroom, Jenna also serves on the prom committee and co-chairs the student talent show, and recently served on the Gala committee.

On her own time, Jenna is also a supporter of Relay for Life, Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis, Walk and Roll for CDKL5 and A Starry Night for Brian Tumors.

Please join us in congratulating Jenna for her nomination and her many accomplishments.
