It was a packed house, once again this year, for Back-to-School Night. The evening kicked off with a hot buffet-style dinner for more than 100 parents and their children in the ADS Gym.

Following dinner, ADS school Principal Kate Flynn delivered a brief presentation and introduced the new staff members who will be joining the ADS family this year. Kate’s presentation was followed by Kristine Merckx, who spoke on volunteering; school social worker Alicia Gilbert, who touched on upcoming initiatives for families that are beginning transition; and Daily Living Skills teacher Julia Hetzler, who presented a short video recapping last year’s DSL highlights.

For the rest of the night, parents were free to visit their students’ classrooms. Childcare was provided, on-site, giving the parents more flexibility to visit with teachers.
