Staff Development Day
Posted On:
Monday, February 04, 2019

Even though students had the day off, Friday, February 1, was a day for learning. Archbishop Damiano School’s staff participated in six different learning opportunities.

Our speech therapists offered two sessions focusing on the practical use of core vocabulary in the classroom.

Elementary lead teacher, Pat Parkinson, assisted by teacher, Lori Talbot, provided staff with three opportunities to learn first-hand

what it feels like to have very specific disabilities. Pat and Lori used wide variety of activities that simulated handicapping conditions.

Our new risk management officer, Jason Bintliff, and community-based instruction teacher, Cindy Worrell, presented two

Crisis Prevention Institute re-certification training sessions in the gym.

Robert Getz of Safety 1St Management provided CPR certification training for all of our nurses and

community-based instruction teachers.

Assistant Principal, Dr. Greg Zink, presented Louder Than Words which focused on how to provide effective behavioral supports

for non-verbal students. Finally, professional staff had the opportunity to continue working on curriculum updates in reading,

social skills and work-related skills.

Our Facilities Supervisor, Steve Aman, did not let the day without students and staff being occupied elsewhere go to waste.  He completed

the expansion of our Early Childhood nurses office. All-in-all it was a busy and productive day.
