DLS Teacher and student

Archbishop Damiano School is proud to welcome Cyndi Bonner, a familiar and deeply cherished face into a new and impactful role as our Daily Living Skills Instructor. Cyndi’s recent transition from her previous role as our ADS Behavioral Specialist represents a natural extension of her expertise and passion. With years of experience supporting students’ behavioral, social, and functional needs, she brings a comprehensive understanding of how students learn, communicate, and grow. Her educational background in special education and psychology, diverse culinary experience, and deep familiarity with our school’s culture, programming, and families uniquely positions her to elevate the DLS experience. For our school community, this is more than a staffing update; it is the continuation of a legacy that has been intertwined with ADS since 1980.

Throughout her tenure at Archbishop Damiano School, Cyndi previously held culinary, preschool, special education, long-term substitute, and student teaching roles, and her extensive resume also includes managing 12 restaurants as a district manager and prior experience providing catering assistance to ADS staff leading the food program. The common thread in Cyndi’s decades-long connection to our school community is her passion for teaching home living skills.

This year, the DLS program has taken an exciting step forward under Cyndi’s leadership. Since stepping into the role, Cyndi has infused the program with fresh, engaging, and highly functional initiatives, most notably and creatively, her transformation of the ADS Greenhouse into a spectacular season-themed sensory experience for our students. Students can look forward to planting a variety of fresh ingredients in our greenhouse that they can later use in recipes during future culinary lessons. Her approach emphasizes independence through consistency, modeling, and reinforcement—principles that have already made a noticeable impact on student engagement and outcomes. We are proud of the program’s evolution and look forward to the many achievements to come. The ADS community is so grateful to have Cyndi’s collaborative, creative, and dynamic energy and experience as part of our school’s past, present and future.
